I'm Jacob Lewkow, a Detroit-based hospitality photographer and creative producer. I photograph hotels, restaurants, food and beverage, and the people behind them for brands across Michigan and nationwide.
I believe the best photographs are felt before they're understood. Capturing that feeling isn't always easy, and there's no formula for it. I trust my gut and let my eye wander. More often than not, the image I'm looking for is waiting somewhere I wasn't planning to look.
In hotel and interior photography, I pay attention to lines and light, to nature and color, and to the way a space breathes when no one is posing. In food and restaurant photography, I watch hands. Hands show the care in a craft long before words do. I see it in the pour, the fold, and the final touch on a plate, in rituals repeated so many times they become a kind of language.
The same instinct guides my portrait and lifestyle photography. I'm drawn to people who do their work with passion and purpose, because that intention leaves a trace on everything they make. Whether I'm producing a brand campaign or a single editorial portrait, my job is to notice that intention and make sure the photograph holds onto it.
